Writing a Video Statement of Work
Answering the following questions regarding your upcoming video related project will help The Track Group in preparing a budget and statement of work.

1. Who's the audience?  What purpose does the video have? Where/how will it be distributed (DVD, video, CD, web, etc?)
2. If this will be ultimately placed on a DVD, is there any chance of needing to produce multiple endings?  Or other items that might be accessible on a DVD, like written documents, sound tracks, pictures, etc.?
3. What do you not want to see for sure? Is this a stand alone piece or part of a series?  If it's a part of a series, does client have materials from that series to provide as examples (assuming it is desired to follow the format/look & feel)
4. Is this an update to a past piece?
5. Can you show us anything that is similar to what you would like to see?
6. What type of look and feel is desired? Edgy/hip, traditional, fast pace/MTV, educational, informative, etc.?
7. Is there anything else to be produced to go with the video?  If so, will these materials be referenced in the video?
8. What is the timeframe? (start, deadline, etc.)
9. What resources will the client be providing to assist with the project? (what amount of involvement is desired? During pre-production, filming, post production)
10. Desired final edited length? (either provide a range, exact desired length, or leave it more open depending on content)
11. Who will provide script? (either client provided, editing required, or written by Track, degree of technical expertise required to write script)?
12. Is professional narrator required (approximate length of script)?

1. Is video need to be shot? Approximately how much? What type of filming conditions? Where will video be shot?
2. Will travel to areas outside the DC metro area be required for filming?
3. Approximately how many days will video need to be shot? Approximate size crew?
4. Will Track be scheduling timeslots with "talent"?
5. Will Track be locating professional "talent" to be included?
6. Is a staged reading (eg. a talking head in an office/studio) desired?  Or will it be voiced over only? Will a studio be required?
7. Teleprompter required?
8. Special lighting needs?
9. Special sound needs (wireless mic, recording over a wide area, etc.)
10. # of Cameras? (multiple camera angles)
1. Will existing video be used? If so, what format/amount of editing will be required? How much will be provided?
2. Will anything need to be licensed other than music to be included in piece?
3. Is animation required or any kind of special effects?
4. Required graphics/titles? Is logo to be animated?
5. Is captioning required?
6. Will music be used? Will it be royalty free?
7. Will packaging need to be designed? (DVD clam-shell case or CD-type case--or in case of VHS, plain paper box?  Printed box?  Plastic box with label?)
8. Special lighting needs? What output is required (format/quantity?)
9. Is distribution needed as well? Ship to one location?
10. Any legal issues that Track will be asked to assist with (eg. copyrights or release forms for talent?)
The Track Group is a GSA Schedule Holder who can provide it ALL and provide you the best VALUE.
