PURPOSE:
|
The
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 office in Atlanta,
Georgia, will convene a conference in Atlanta in December 2007 to explore
clean sustainable energy efforts in the Southeastern United States.
The primary goal of the meeting will be to initiate a dialog among key
stakeholders in the environmental and energy arenas that will help promote
clean, affordable, and sustainable energy options across EPA Region 4 over
time. Example areas of discussion will include the strategies to
facilitate growth of clean and sustainable energy sources from laboratory
scale to commercial scale and the mitigation of obstacles confronting the
growth of existing clean sustainable energy sources (e.g., regulatory and
economic barriers).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
|
Federal and state agencies with a stake in clean sustainable energy,
environmental organizations; power generation and fuel production companies;
and universities and research institutes
|
Expected Results / Outcome:
|
In
addition to a contractor-generated summary of the meeting, participants will
also provide feedback on whether and in what form an ongoing discussion
should develop to continually improve the Southeast region’s access to
clean, sustainable energy sources. |
