WHERE:

The Embassy Suites Hotel at Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta, GA

PURPOSE:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 office in Atlanta, Georgia, will convene a conference in Atlanta in December 2007 to explore clean sustainable energy efforts in the Southeastern United States.  The primary goal of the meeting will be to initiate a dialog among key stakeholders in the environmental and energy arenas that will help promote clean, affordable, and sustainable energy options across EPA Region 4 over time.   Example areas of discussion will include the strategies to facilitate growth of clean and sustainable energy sources from laboratory scale to commercial scale and the mitigation of obstacles confronting the growth of existing clean sustainable energy sources (e.g., regulatory and economic barriers).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

Federal and state agencies with a stake in clean sustainable energy, environmental organizations; power generation and fuel production companies; and universities and research institutes

Expected Results / Outcome:

In addition to a contractor-generated summary of the meeting, participants will also provide feedback on whether and in what form an ongoing discussion should develop to continually improve the Southeast regionís access to clean, sustainable energy sources.
